Futurescape: Pioneering Peace Visionaries
MIJARC Europe’s Strategic Objectives for the period 2022-2025 underscore the imperative of nurturing global youth leadership in shaping a peaceful future. Today, amidst the aftermath of World War II, our mission is to confront the challenge of constructing a harmonious world. Peace stands as the focal theme selected by our member organizations (MOs), aligning with our strategic emphasis on fostering cooperation with neighboring regions and nurturing a vision of peacebuilding. Recent conflicts, such as those in Ukraine and Armenia, have underscored the urgency of our mission, compelling our member organizations to reaffirm European values, foster unity, and strive for peace restoration.
The proposed work plan serves as a testament to our commitment to bolstering citizenship and youth engagement in rural development through non-formal education avenues. It aims to provide secure spaces for democratic learning, foster inter-religious dialogue, and promote peace within our globally interconnected society. Operationally, we envision the work plan enhancing the internal cohesion of our network during these vulnerable times.
While Europe remains relatively peaceful and prosperous, pockets of instability and insecurity persist. Notably, youth constitute a significant demographic in conflict-affected regions worldwide, necessitating our focus on peace advocacy and conflict resolution. Rural youth, in particular, bear the brunt of conflict consequences, rendering them more vulnerable. Thus, our work plan prioritizes rural development interventions aimed at mitigating conflict risks, fostering intercultural dialogue, and preserving stability.

The 3rd phase of the work plan is an unconventional international simulation exercise titled "Futurescape: Pioneering Peace Visionaries". The final phase of the work plan focuses on envisioning and strategizing for a peaceful future, drawing upon the insights and skills gained throughout the preceding activities. Participants will embark on a transformative journey to envision a future of peace and unity in Europe. Incorporating elements of gamification and storytelling techniques, this simulation will immerse participants in a futuristic scenario where they collaborate to strategize for peacebuilding. Through this exercise, participants will gain insights into the complexities of peacebuilding efforts and develop innovative solutions to address emerging challenges, which are identified in the Position Paper - the outcome of the 2nd activity. As a result, a new set of digital cards will be created for the social media campaign, showcasing participants' unique experiences and visions for the future. This activity will help to complete the workplan by educating the network members not only to analyse the ongoing situation and come up with a concrete and strong position but also the ability to think creatively and critically and analyse how the ongoing problems can be solved.
After Argenton-sur-Creuse in 2011 and Besançon in 2018, the Grandes Rurales festival will be coming to Chemillé-en-Anjou in July 2025!
The goal: to spend four days together to party, laugh, but also reflect.
